Built by the former Mormon bishop and stonemason, Thomas Battersby Child, Jr, the Gilgal Sculpture Garden is basically a folk art environment situated in his backyard. It is composed of a series of stone carvings, which is just true to its name, as the word ?Gilgal? is an Old Testament term referring to ?circle of stones?.

The Gilgal Sculpture Garden is quite expansive for an city backyard, with its half an acre measurement. It is filled with tons of various boulders and rocks that are transformed into works of art. The theme largely varied from biblical references to the creators self portrait to inscriptions. It?s a wild mix of stuff, and as the creator has already passed away, everyone?s guess as to what its message is, can just be as good as any others?.
