American Precision Museum is a treasure trove of manufacturing history and houses the most extensive collection of historically significant machine tools in the country. The 1846 building used to be home to the Robbin & Lawrence Armory Company until Edwin Battison founded the museum in 1966. The museum showcases old machines typical of the American civil war, an excellent collection of guns and rifles and a 19th century gun shop.

The American Precision Museum aims to preserve the heritage of the mechanical arts and the ingenuity of America's forebears, and explore how they affect modern life. A nonprofit board runs the museum and through their devotion along with other partnerships, the museum is continually being developed for new generation to explore. The museum is open daily and will be celebrating its 45th anniversary in 2011.
