Also known as the Sunset Lake Floating Bridge, this is the very first floating bridge in the United States. This structure is very unique as it doesn?t use traditional pilings, as the lake is too deep for that technique. Instead, it is supported by buoyed barrels, keeping the bridge afloat, yet very near the water?s surface.

The Floating Bridge is built in 1936. It was later restored in 1978. It measured 317.9 feet in length, and 12.5 feet in width. It became a part of the national Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Sadly, due to its condition, the Floating Bridge is currently closed to vehicle traffic. However, visitors can still come in the area and fish, swim, or witness the Winter Ice Harvest.
