Straddling the borders between the US and Canada is the Haskell Free Library and Opera House. This neoclassical building can literally put visitors in two places at the same time. Its entrance and opera seats are located at 93 Caswell Avenue, Derby Line in Vermont, while the library collection and the opera stage are at 1 Church Street, Stanstead, Quebec, Canada.

Created by Carlos Haskell and Martha Stewart Haskell in 1905, the Haskell Free Library and Opera House?s main aim is to cater services to citizens of the two countries. The library has 20,000 titles and is open to the public 38 hours a week.

The Haskell Free Library and Opera House is a part of the National Register of Historic Places, as well as a Canadian historical site.
