Lake St. Catherine State Park was opened in 1953 being as a modest picnic area and swimming facility. This area was once a place for slate quarrying operations. As a matter of fact, some relics of the past slate quarrying are still eminent in the area. Slate mills, rubble piles and quarries still remain in the area. The park was a favorite summer camp for children, and was a farmland in the past days. 50 rent/trailer sites and 11 lean-to sites are available in the campground. Lake accessibility as well as tree lined zones and open grassy areas are the main reasons why most visitors and tourist frequent this area. The park offers modern amenities like flush toilets and hot showers for a fee. Kayaks, rowboats, canoes and pedal boat rentals are available at the snack bar concession

The State Park is a perfect place where a tourist may get a view from the past while enjoying nature and recreational activities. Family activities like picnics and camping are recommended as a respite from everyday life. Sports activities like hiking, biking, boating and fishing make the stay in the park a memorable one.
