Originally an estate owned by the pioneer conservationist George Perkins Marsh that was passed on to his daughter Mary French Rockefeller, the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park is the first national park of the state of Vermont. It was also the very site of Frederick Billing?s managed forest and progressive dairy farm.

The Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park is worth noting as it has received the first Forest Stewardship Council certification for its sustainable forest management. It is the second federal land to get such an honor. This Woodstock, Vermont park is also historic for having the boyhood home of George Perkins on the site, which dates back to the 19th century.

The Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park was established in 1992, and is open from May to October.
