Not many people know that the United States of America, with all its capitalist trappings, have political groups that lean on the ?left side? of the political-economic spectrum, such as socialists and anarchists. Among these leftist groups is the Socialist Labor Party, whose main headquarters, the Socialist Labor Party Hall, was declared a National Historical Landmark in 2000.

Also known as the Old Labor Hall, the building was constructed in 1900. It is located in Barre, Vermont. This building was the place where debates, discussions and activities among socialists, labor leaders and anarchists took place. The place was of paramount importance especially during the labor movements during the early 20th century. The hall provided organizations and other communities with a place to meet, organize, socialize, and even have fun. Wrestling matches, boxing, dancing, and singing were held inside this building.
