The Vermont State Fair, the largest fair in Vermont, is celebrated every September at the Vermont State Fairgrounds in Rutland, Vermont. Since 1859, the fair has been drawing hundreds of thousands of people from Vermont and all over the United States.

The first fair was held in 1859 and called the ?Rutland Fair? until 1972, when it was renamed to its present name. Like many fairs, this one started out as an agricultural product fair until it became a major state event.

The Vermont State Fair?s several attractions include midway rides, agricultural exhibits, entertainment shows, concerts, cultural exhibits, food displays, and zoo and animal displays. One of the major events is the Rosaire?s Racing Pigs, a unique animal race featuring pigs racing around a track to get a bowl of food.
