The First Landing State Park provides numerous recreational opportunities for locals and tourist alike such as boating, swimming, trails and boat launch. The park was formerly known as Seashore State Park but was changed to its current name reflecting its heritage as the location where Christopher Newport and members of the Virginia Company first landed who later settled at Jamestown.

Located at Cape Henry, Virginia Beach, Virginia, the First Landing State Park houses cabins and various areas suitable for camping, fishing and swimming. Aside from these, visitors are afforded over 19 miles of hiking and biking trails. Considered to be Virginia's most popular state park, it boasts over a million visitors annually.

The Civilian Conservation Corps originally built the state park in the 1930s. Intended for park maintenance, visitors are required to pay a certain amount when using the camping facilities and overnight use of the cabins. Visitors staying the night need not worry about water and electric hook-ups as the state park already has them as well as nearby access to restrooms and showers.

For those thinking of availing the state park's cabin, more details are offered in the official website along with the list of facilities and amenities available. There are a total of twenty cabins in all, the first six are made of wood-frames with hardwood floors while the rest are cinderblock with cedar siding and have concrete floors.

The First Landing State Park has trails on 2,888 acres, the most popular of which is the Bald Cypress Trail. It is a one-mile trail that crosses dunes and ponds and is accessible for the handicapped. Before going on a trail, you can visit the Trail Center to avail their brochure for self-guided tours. Trail walks are offered though conducted by park interpreters.
