The Huntington Museum of Art started its art collection almost 50 years ago with the substantial gift of prominent Huntington citizen Herbert Fitzpatrick who also donated 50 acres of land, which was used as the site for the Museum. The outstanding collection includes paintings, English Silver, prints, Islamic prayer rugs. Eventually, the collection increased as other individual made donations consisting of individual art collection, which are disparate in nature although uniform in high quality. The Huntington Museum of Art is able to continue as it builds upon the blueprint collection, which was established in the beginning stages as objects of comparable quality were added to enhance its offerings to the visitors.

Its collection also features Daywood Collection Folk Art and the Herman P. Dean Firearms.
