This historical landmark in Portsmouth Virginia known as the Lightship 101 has been into action-packed history. This vessel was first name ?Charles? that was then assigned into Cape Charles Virginia. Then after which, Lightship 101 was named into different ones like Overfalls when it reaches Henlopen, Delaware and Stonehorse when it reached its last assignment place which is the Stonehorse Shoal in Massachusetts. When it was put into Portsmouth, LV 101 already had many improvements to maintain its style.

It was built in 1915 by Pusey and Jones. In 1964 it was then donated to Portsmouth as it became a naval museum. Later on the name LV 101 was changed into Portsmouth in giving recognition to the city where it was donated. By 1989, Portsmouth stands as one of the National Historic Landmarks in Virginia that even today is being so popular in that state. Tourists who are visiting LV 101 only needs 4$ to enter and see the large and awesome vessel. Aside from this, it can also give them the chance to visit the Naval Shipyard Museum just next to this LV 101.
