The well kept privately owned rescue zoo is home to unwanted pets, retired zoo animals and confiscated animals. Mark Kilby?s vision is to give the public awareness about the animal?s need for shelter and caress. The zoo is now a sanctuary to over 260 animals and has been the only true zoo in Virginia for over 26 years.

The Luray Zoo had never been operational if not for some dedicated volunteers and through your help. The admissions and gift shop sales goes directly to the animals and to help the Luray Zoo?s operations and upkeep. Admissions to the zoo is good for one day and It offers everyone a very educational and yet fun experience through their large collections of reptiles in Virginia and 20 wild creature including exotic cats and their lovable monkey friends Freddy, Jojo and Buttercup and other attractions.

Whether traveling with your kids or friends the Zoo will definitely be worth a stop. The best times for tourists to visit are the 11:30am animal encounter show or the 3:30pm venomous snake demonstration from Memorial Day to Labor Day and not to mention the zoo is stroller and wheelchair accessible.
