Housing at least 1400 animals is the privately owned Metro Richmond Zoo in Moseley, Virginia. It features over 150 different species of wildlife, giving visitors a good amount of variety. It was started by Jim Andelin in 1980 who began collecting animals, which soon enough turned to becoming his profession.

Like other zoos in the country, there?s also a selected few animals that visitors can interact with. In Metro Richmond Zoo, guests could feed giraffes and antelopes just to name a few. Folks can also view the daily feeding sessions of the penguins.

Metro Richmond Zoo also holds an annual event every December known as the Miracle of Christmas Live at the Zoo. Its main highlight is the pageant involving the zoo animals.
