The Virginia Beach Neptune Festival is considered as one of the America?s top 100 Festivals. It is also one of the top 10 festivals on the East Coast alone. Attracting thousands of visitors, the festival has become a major event in Virginia State.

The event is organized by professional staffers, with the help of around a thousand volunteers and 30 event chairmen. The festival features more than 35 events, including sports activities like tennis, volleyball, Sandman Triathlon, a sand sculpting competition and even a surfing competition. It also showcases some arts and craft show. One of the highlights of the festival is the performance of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. This alone draws people to the thousands.

The Neptune Festival was first celebrated in 1973 under the leadership of Richard Kline, President of the Virginia Beach Chamber of Commerce.
