The Lynden Pioneer Museum serves the public by enabling them to pursue their appreciation and curiosity for the rich history of Lynden. It offers exhibits that illustrate the early days of the area, including its pioneers, significant events, and personalities who have contributed to make Lynden what it is today.

The Museum is the medium by which the Lynden Heritage Foundation fulfills its purpose of being the preeminent center for history and heritage in Northern Whatcom County. It enables people to come together and connect themselves to the heritage of Whatcom County communities. It comes up with the enriching, interactive and educational exhibits, as well as provide access to its well-maintained collections, informative dramatic history presentations; and entertaining and practical educational programs and curriculum along the western seaboard from Alaska to Baja.

The Lynden Heritage Foundation provides the communities of Whatcom County a sense of identity. It also helps generate local revenue through heritage tourism. The Lynden Heritage Foundation focuses on offering educational programs, creating exhibits, and presentations, and preserving heritage collections concerning Whatcom County before WWII.

The Lynden Pioneer Museum also houses its own Gift Shop where visitors could purchase toys, gifts, postcards and local history books.
