The National Museum of American Jewish Military History works toward the documentation and preservation of the Jewish Americans? contribution to the peace and freedom in the county. It also promotes the education of the public on the courage, heroism, and sacrifices of Jewish Americans who are in the armed forces. It also highlights their works that aim to combat anti-Semitism.

The Museum houses a collection consisting of 2,000 donations and 10,000 objects. It includes objects coming from every military conflict. Majority of these are from World War II. The collection also includes videos, photographs, personal books, maps, recordings, uniforms, headgear, ribbons, tool, edged weapons, camp supplies, foreign currency, ribbons, medals, patches, sleeping bags, personal effects, religious artifacts, electronic equipment, and plaques.
