If there?s one flower festival you shouldn?t miss, it?s the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. The celebration is done annually during the season when the tulips are in bloom in April. The festival started as a three-day event, and gradually grew to a ten-day event. Believe it or not, the celebration has gone to a 30-day event in the past few years! Thanks to the millions of people who come to visit the place just to see the colorful flowers blooming in the field, and of course, enjoy the celebrations that include a street fair, a tulip parade, art shows, and some salmon BBQs.

In 1984, the festival was inaugurated by Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce after Joan Houchen and Jerry Diggerness saw that thousands of people were coming just to see the tulips. To accommodate the guests, festivities, sports events, and other fun activities were added to the festival.
