The Lincoln Memorial lies at West Potomac Park, (at 23rd Street NW), Washington, DC, with zip code 20242. A monument to pay homage to Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, the Lincoln Memorial is one of DC?s major monuments, providing panoramic view across Washington DC. Two years after the tragic assassination of Abraham Lincoln, the Congress organized the Lincoln Monument Association with the aim of constructing a memorial to dedicate to Abraham Lincoln.

The memorial was inspired from the Greek temple together with its impressive Doric columns. There are 36 columns that symbolize each state of the Union during Lincoln?s death. Inside the temple is the figure of Abraham Lincoln seating on a chair with a dimension of 19feet/5.8m.At the northern portion of the wall holds the inscription of his second inaugural speech while the southern part is the inscription of the famous Gettysburg address.
