The Washington State Convention Center in downtown Seattle was first constructed in 1985 and was opened to the public three years later in 1988. It was later expanded in 1999-2001, with LMN Architects of Seattle as its designer. The expansion doubled the size of the center, making it 307,700 square feet in area. Every year, the center receives about 400,000 visitors, mostly coming to use the recently-added Conference Center which offers 71,000 sq. feet of outstanding catering services, and a state-of-the-art configurable meeting space.
