Washington State International Kite Festival is a weeklong kite celebration, demonstration and competition held annually during the third week of August at Long Beach, Washington. The event which starts Monday and ends on Sunday, boasts skies ablaze with color, high flying action and choreographed movement. Famous kite fliers from all around the world showcase their skills during the event amongst tens of thousands of awed spectators, many of which participate in the fun with their own kite flying adventures.

Voted as the best kite festival in the world by the Kite Trade Association International, the event is organized by World Kite Museum and Hall of Fame which is the only American museum entirely dedicated to the thrill, joy, art, and science and world history of kites. The target spectators of the event are the general public, kite enthusiasts, kite fliers, organizers and children. The spectators can enjoy the high flying action and choreographed movement of kites.

The Kite Festival also features workshops that teach people how to build, decorate and fly kites, create a kite train, photograph flying kites, and kite making for kids. Other kite festival events include mass ascensions, stunt kites, lighted night kite flying, and a fighter kite showcase. There are also competitions for kids, adults and seniors. On the last day of the festival, everyone is welcome to fly a kite at the same time, creating a colorful, beautiful sight.

The Washington State International Kite Festival will be held on August 15-21, 2011, August 20-26, 2012 and August 19-25, 2013.
