Owned by the 28th president of the United States, Woodrow Wilson got the title deed for this house in the late 1920s for his wife. This Georgian style home was originally built in 1915 on S Street in Washington. When the Wilsons acquired the estate, they had an elevator installed and a billiard game room built. They also kept it secured behind iron gates. It also housed thousands of books that Woodrow Wilson owned. Both husband and wife stayed here until the day they died in 1924 and 1961, respectively. But, even before Mrs. Wilson died, she was able to donate the house to the ?National Trust For Historic Preservation? who then opened the significant house to the public. Here, you can view antique furnishings, Woodrow?s extensive book collection, China collection, photos, Gobelin drapery, and old furnishings from Virginia owned by the Bolling family.
