The Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg, West Virginia is one of the four remaining Carnegie Halls in the world that are still being used. This Georgian Revival Structure has been n existence for almost a century. Built in 1902 by Andrew Carnegie, a steel baron and philanthropist, it was incorporated in 1983 as a regional non-profit arts and education center. Committed to the cultivation and appreciation for creativity and excellence when it comes to the arts, it aims to offer and promote top-notch, quality performances and exhibitions to educate the community and encourage participation among its diverse audience.
Now, it has become a cultural center serving over 75,000 guests with live performances by well-proclaimed local and international artists and companies. It also hosts award-winning arts in educational programming, independent films, art exhibits, and a whole lot more. Some of the most notable performances held in this historic site are from Taj Mahal, Isaac Stern, and Gillian Welch.
