Clay Center of the Arts and Sciences West Virginia is among the prestigious performing arts center within the capital city of Charleston. Opened in 2003, the center boasts its visual arts, performing arts, and sciences within one building. Most of their facilities can be found in Avampato Discovery Museum and the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra. The center is also responsible for the uplifting of West Virginia?s economy, culture and education.

The center provides progress within West Virginia. It allows people of different ages and races to enjoy art and creativity. Talents are honed and recognized not only within the State but also in the whole nation. It caters especially to those who are interested in arts and sciences.

One of the best things that local folks look forward inside the Clay Center are the numerous concert series from local and international performing artists, musicals and Broadway performances, and festivals. Aside from that, holding special events are allowed within the center. There are multiple choices for hall rentals ? such as weddings, wedding receptions, conventions and seminars, parties, group meetings, holiday parties, Community Theater and educational lectures, and so on. You can choose a private area like the John McClaugherty Performer?s Lounge or the 1,883 Maier Foundation Performance Hall to hold larger groups. There is also a resident caterer, the Embassy Suites Hotel, where they can provide the catering and beverages.

History showed that the birth of the Center was inspired from the founders of The Clay Foundation; the late Lyell and Buckner Clay II. Both brothers are solely responsible for leaving a legacy that still brings economic prosperity within West Virginia. Due to the brothers? passion for arts, sciences, and their dedication of the State to provide projects for the needy, the Center was named to their legacy. Hence the name, Clay Center.
