It was built in the mid to late 1880s after fifty individuals have signed a petition and decided to convert into Presbyterianism, thus requiring a worship place in the area.

The Gormania Presbyterian Church served as a religious site for Presbyterians in Gormania from its construction in the late 1800s until the 1980s. It was forced to close its doors after almost a century of operating as a venue for worshippers due to the lack of members.

Sold to the Methodists in 1994, the Gormania Presbyterian Church is now known as the Gormania United Methodist Church. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
