Helvetia, West Virginia is a small town that was once a settlement area of Swiss and German immigrants. Its history dates back to the 1870s, after the group known as the Gruetli Verein decided to move from Brooklyn in New York to some place they could all live together.

Today, Helvetia still retains its authentic Swiss village feel. Locals say that thanks to its location (which is up the mountains and quite isolated), it was able to preserve most of their ancestors? traditions that the first settlers were able to take to the US.

Helvetia offers tourists a good number of events like fairs and celebrations, as well as great cuisine and architecture. Folks can visit their general store, cheese stop, bed and breakfast. Their Swiss restaurant also offers delectable meals.
