Also known as the Castle Gardens Scenic Area, this site offers stunning rock formations and picnic areas for visitors. However, the huge boulders aren?t the only things that attract most visitors to the site. The petroglyphs are also something to behold, especially since researchers claim that these stone engravings date back to the 1000 to 1250 AD.

The petroglyphs of Castle Gardens are believed to be made by ancestors of today?s Navajos and Apaches. Carvings of shields are the most common among the rocks in the area. Some still have pigments in them.

Signs are posted around the Castle Gardens to remind visitors to respect and protect the area, as the items found on site are historical and part of the American Heritage.
