Spanning 75-feet across the Highway 89?s four lane road is the Elkhorn Arch of Afton, Wyoming. It is believed to be the largest of its kind in the world. The name is taken after the materials used to make the arch, which are elk horns, or for a more correct term, antlers. Unlike other horned animals, elks tend to shed their antlers yearly. This made it possible for locals to collect more than 3000 pieces without putting the elk population at risk.

The Elkhorn Arch was built in 1958. It measures 18 feet in height and 15 tons in weight. It is also believed that the whole structure can cost up to $300,000 for the elk antlers alone. Aside from the antlers, the arch is also adorned by two figures of fighting elks.
