Robert Russin who showed all-out praises and admiration for the late American President Abraham Lincoln was the one behind the giant bronze monument which have become a useful landmark for tourists driving west towards I-80.

The giant head, which was sculpted in the commemoration of Lincoln?s 150th birthday as requested by the Wyoming?s Park Commision, used to be situated at Sherman Summit which is the tallest peak of the Lincoln Highway but was transferred in I-80, between Cheyenne and Laramie after the highway was completed in 1969.

It may have lost several hundreds of feet from its old peak, but tourists can now have a better view after it was perched on the top of a granite pedestal which stands thirty feet. The bronze is with a whopping couple of tons and a 13.5 feet stature. This weight may have been caused by the large head supported by the tiny shoulders, which make the statue look as though the 16th American President?s bronze head is sagging from its heaviness.
