The Natrona County Public Library originated from the Women?s Christian Temperance Union, a reading room created in 1902. Less than two decades later, it already had a collection of 850 books as well as two hundred members. Ten years would pass before the government would select the reading room to become a part of the Federal Depository Library Program, thus making it an official bearer of selected government documents.

Today, the library is composed of 2 wings ? with the 1972 Carnegie Building serving as the library?s primary wing while the east wing was completed earlier in 1954. The 30,000 square foot facility also houses over 200,000 materials that include books and audio books, magazines, CDs, and DVDS. The library also has a list of more than 31,000 members.
