The Nicolaysen Art Museum & Discovery Center, fondly referred to as ?The Nic? by locals, began as a simple art exhibition hosted by Mary Durham in a tiny white house in 1967. A few years later, it became a part of the Central Wyoming Art Museum and is now housed at what used to be the Mountain States Power Company, a 25,000 square foot property that had been significantly renovated to provide the very best museum facilities in the area. Some of the museum?s permanent exhibits may be found at the Conrad Schwiering Gallery, wherein the complete works of art of the state resident player William Schwiering are displayed. Among the various works displayed at the gallery is an imaginative life-scale reconstruction of Schwiering?s art studio in Moose, Wyoming.
