If you are exploring the vast wilderness of the Yellowstone National Park, do not forget to drop by one of the park?s major attraction, the Old Faithful geyser. Famed for its ?faithful? eruption intervals, this cone geyser erupts every 63-70 minutes, spouting towering column of steam and hot water from the earth. Some eruptions last for less than 2.5 minutes.

Old Faithful was the first geyser to be given a name in 1870 during the Washburn-Langford-Doane Expedition. Some irregularity in its eruptions has been discovered, caused by the 1983 Borah Peak earthquake. This geyser, which has been erupting since historic times, has been romantically associated with steadfast convictions and feelings.

Old Faithful is part of the Old Faithful Historic District. Park explorers can stay at the nearby Old Faithful Inn.
