Built by Ted and Marjorie Trefren of Cheyenne, Wyoming, the Our Lady of Peace Shrine is basically a personal dream and project of a couple that has always wanted to erect a Marian shrine. Put up in 1998 after the couple searched all over for inspiration, the 30 footer sculpture weighs 180 tons and stands on a 10 foot pedestal, making it one of the biggest Marian statues in the country.

The statue of the Our Lady of Peace Shrine was done by Robert Fida. It used rubber, foam, fiberglass, and Wyoming marble as primary components. The finished product is actually a massive five-story tall sculpture.

Masses are occasionally held by the Our Lady of Peace Shrine. Self-guided tours are also permitted on the site.
