In 1941, John & Jess Wort converted four lots that their famous father, Charles J. Wort, purchased in 1915 into a luxurious hotel. Their father was known for being one of the first and most successful homesteaders in the area, having moved to Jackson Hole in 1893. Although the two men?s grandiose plan was initially met with scepticism by locals, the Wort Hotel quickly became known as one of the city?s top attractions, drawing tourists and locals alike and amazing all guests with its charmingly rustic interior and lavish Tudor Revival exterior.

Devastated by fire at one point, the Wort Hotel had undergone restoration in 1980 and now offers a wide variety of sumptuously designed suites that boast of New West decor as well as a delightful array of Indian and Western motifs. Guests staying at the hotel can also enjoy free high-speed Internet in their rooms as well as free in-room Starbucks coffee. There?s also an on-site fitness center as well as the very much famous Silver Dollar Bar, which features an inlaid collection of over 2,000 uncirculated 1921 silver dollars set in the serpentine mahogany-topped bar.
