The tours will take you back to the prison?s cafeteria, the grounds, the three cell blocks, and the very popular Death House. The Museum features several artifacts and historical accounts from previous inmates. Guided tours are also available for students and professionals with different rates. The prison museum also highlights ghost investigation for a number of three people, but reservations must be made five days prior to the event. The Gift Shop is also a venue to buy apparels, books, key chains, and cups. Special events are even welcomed for those who are interested to rent the prison facilities.

As recorded by historians, the Old Wyoming Penitentiary Prison jailed at least 13, 500 people, which includes 11 women during its operation. On the first year of operation, there were only 104 cells on Cell Block A, until 32 cells were added at the west adjacent to the original cell. Another cell block was made in 1950, and the last block was done in 1966. Prisoners complained of lack of heating, no electricity and running water, and overcrowding but were soon resolved in the 50s?. Women were jailed until 1909, and the rest of the operation focused on lawless men in Wyoming.

After the prison stopped its operation in 1980, the area was used as a location for a low-budget movie titled ?Prison? seven years later. In 1988, the State of Wyoming took ownership of the penitentiary, made it as a museum, and changed its name. This place is now included in the National Register of Historical Places and opened its doors to the public since then.
