The Ashe Cottage is a historic house in Demopolis, Alabama. It was built in 1832 in the Carpenter Gothic style. In 1858, it was remodeled into its current look, which has strong leanings into the Gothic revival style after the design of Dr. William Cincinnatus Ashe.
Dr. Ashe was a physician from North Carolina. He modeled his house after the design of Samuel Sloane which he found in the publication of ?The Model Architect? in 1852. The plan was called ?An Old English Cottage?, which was quite an apt description for the stunning house.
The Ashe Cottage is currently noted for being one of the last twenty Gothic Revival residential structures in the state of Alabama. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage.
