The Indian Mound and Museum is a museum in Florence, Alabama. It is dedicated on chronicling the colorful history of the prehistoric Native Americans who inhabited the area, the north side of the Tennessee River, thousands of years ago.
The Indian Mound and Museum is located on the very spot of the largest domiciliary mound in all of the Tennessee Valley. Its summit measures 145 by 94 feet with a height if 42 feet, with traces of a semi-circular earthen wall and steps on the east side.
The Indian Mound and Museum?s gallery exhibits a number of artifacts and items related to the Native American past of the area. Some of the displays date back to 10,000 years ago, and are arranged following a specific chronology, from Paleo to Historic periods.
