The Propulsion and Structural Test Facility is a historic site in the George C. Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. It was built in 1957 by the Army Ballistic Missile Agency, the very agency that was formed to develop the first intermediate range ballistic missile for the US Army.
The Propulsion and Structural Test facility is historic for its participation in the development of the first single stage rockets with multiple engines. This site was designed to aptly test the machinery, so any error could be spotted early on and improved. It is also the site where the Saturn Family of launch vehicles was developed.
The Propulsion and Structural Test Facility is a National Historic Landmark. It was also added on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
