Roxy Theatre is a historic theatre in Russellville, Alabama. It was originally a movie house located in the downtown area. However, like tons of other movie theatres in the country, it suffered from the decline of patronage and was finally closed down in 1976.
In 1987, the Franklin County Arts and Humanities acquired the building and started to renovate and restore the historic building. However, it was never fully finished, as the group lacked the necessary funds to pull the project through. This is why, up until now, it is still under the process of renovation, with the help of the regular fundraising event known as ?Rockin? at the Roxy?. The Roxy Theatre still occasionally hosts events and live performances.
