The city of Mobile, Alabama has once been primarily Catholic during its early years. This is why there is an abundance of historic churches in the said faith in the city. One of these churches is the Saint Vincent de Paul, now known as the Prince of Peace Church.

The Saint Vincent de Paul traces its history back to the mid 1800s when it was organized. The current structure was dedicated in 1877 as a replacement to the 1847 Saint Vincent de Paul parish church that burned down just before 1874, when the construction of the present building started. The current Prince of Peace Church is a result of the merging of the old Saint Vincent de Paul parish to the neighboring St. Peter Claver Parish in 1911. The structure is now a part of the National Historic Registry.
