Because of his pride being ?The Greatest Living Spear Hunter in the World?, Gene Morris founded the Spear Hunting Museum in December 2006. According to him, the museum is a living expression of his love in the spear hunting craft. Sharon Henson, the caretaker of the place, said that Morris bought a Chevy Blazer, so that he can paint his title of being the greatest spear hunter.

Morris was a retired Air Force colonel and his service in the army; he has killed nearly 400 animals using his spears alone. His museum exhibits remains of the animals he hunted from an African lioness, American bison, alligators, cougars, and variety deer species. He said that his motivation to hunt animals using one-handed spear is because of his boredom using guns. For him, hunting with guns has become too easy.

When Morris is not out for hunting, the Museum opens itself for the public. And if possible, Morris performs a spear hunt demonstration. He owns many different types of spears ? from two-sided to one-sided ones. But his years of expertise in the field of hunting gave him the opportunity to design his own spears which he sells in the gift shop. Morris describes his masterpiece as a four-bladed, unreal killing machine.

Morris said that his ultimate goal is to spear-hunt elephants and he plans to do it by climbing tall trees like what he did when he captured the Cape Buffalo.
