The State Black Archives Research Center & Museum is commonly described as a unique museum in Huntsville, Alabama. It was opened in 1990, after the passing of the 1987 bill establishing the site.

Located in the Alabama A & M University campus, the State Black Archives Research Center & Museum is focused on promoting the awareness and knowledge of the public about the great contributions and achievements of the African American population, as well as the role they played in history and the society in general. It features displays about the ?Buffalo Soldiers?, the black women and their excellent achievements, as well as displays on notable figures. They also offer research material pertinent to the study of the African American history.
