The United States Marine Hospital is a historic building in Mobile, Alabama. It was completed in 1842, built for the Marine Hospital Service, who used the property from its completion until 1952 when the hospital closed.
The United States Marine Hospital is a historic hospital. It served the soldiers of both sides during the Civil War. It didn?t discriminate, whether it?s a Confederate or Union troop member.
The building itself is also noted for its architecture. Designed by Frederick Bunnell in the Greek Revival style, it is also said that the United States Marine Hospital shared a number of features with the old Mobile City Hospital, its neighbor structure.
Today, the United States Marine Hospital serves as the Major General William C. Gorgas Clinic.
