The Eklutna Historical Park is deemed as one of the most important parks in the greater Anchorage area. The site, as well as its location, is bursting with historic tidbits, making it a real interesting place to see.
The Eklutna Historical Park is named after the town that it is located, the federally recognized Native Alaskan American village of Eklutna. The village is the longest inhabited church in the Anchorage area, with residents living in it for more than 800 years already.
The Eklutna Historical Park mainly focuses on the traditional lifestyle of the Dena?ina Athabascan Indians (local inhabitants since 1650). It also shows the development of the village in line with the arrival of the St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in the area among other things.
