The Jerome State Historic Park is a local historical museum and state park that prominently features the Douglas Mansion landmark, a 1916 building built by Jimmy Douglas during the operation of the Little Daisy Mine.

The City of Jerome?s modern history is intricately weaved with the history of mining in the area. Since the first three prospectors staked claims on copper deposits in the area in 1876, a series of mining attempts and developments including the creation of the United Verde Copper Company in 1883 and the development of the Little Daisy Mine in 1912 spurred the development of Jerome to a mining boom town. The Douglas Mansion was intended to act as a hotel for investors and mining officials as well as a home for the Douglas Family.
