The Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum, which is also known simply as the AIMM, is the state?s only public museum that?s housed in a historic naval vessel. The USS Razorback (SS 394), a submarine, had undergone extensive restoration work before first opening its doors to the public on May 15, 2005. An actual museum related to the site was then opened two months later. The barge Mary Munns was restored to serve as the museum?s gift shop, waiting area, and ticket booth. Another barge, the Savannah Lou, was then tasked to house the various interpretative exhibits of the museum as well as a small but well-equipped library, workshops, and a theatre. In December of 2005, another historic vessel, this time serving as a memorial, was transferred to the museum?s main entrance. The USS Snook (SS 729) was one of the 52 WWII submarines lost in the past.
