Florida is home to state parks that feature breathtaking swamplands and hammocks. It is also home to several historic neighborhoods such as the popular Coconut Grove. The Barnacle Historic State Park combines the natural beauty and history of the bay area of Florida.

The Barnacle is a 5-acre state park located by the Biscayne Bay in the Coconut Grove neighborhood in Miami, Florida. Its main highlight is the Barnacle house. Built in 1891, it is the oldest house in Miami-Dade County. This was the home of Ralph Middleton Munroe, a well-known yachtsman and yacht designer during his time. He first visited South Florida in 1877. On his 2nd visit, he brought his wife who unfortunately died of tuberculosis. She was buried in Coconut Grove, where Munroe stayed for good.

Visitors can tour the historic park, as well as set up picnics, wildlife viewing, and attend shows and concerts.
