The Camp Helen State Park is a state park in Panama City Beach, Florida. It features the Gulf of Mexico on three sides and one of the largest coastal dune lakes in the state, Lake Powell.
Camp Helen State Park has always been used as a resort and beach location since the mid 1900s. It was originally a private company resort from 1945 to 1987, owned by an Alabama textile mill. It was transformed later into a public area and was opened as a day use park.
Today, people can enjoy the Camp Helen State Park and many of the outdoor activities that it encourages. These things include swimming, wildlife viewing, fishing, hiking, picnicking, and beachcombing. There are also several interpretive exhibits available showcasing the history of the area.
