The Circus Museum is a museum in Sarasota, Florida, built as a part of the historic Ringling Estate. It celebrates the history and industry of the American circus and its relationship with the city of Sarasota.
Also commonly referred to as the Ringling Museum of the American Circus, the Circus Museum was established in 1948. It is the first ever museum of its kind to document the heritage and past of the circus trade, making it unique and a one of a kind tourist attraction. It was aptly built as a part of the estate of the Ringlings, which were some of the biggest names in the industry, especially during the early years of the 1900s.
The Circus Museum features a good number of displays chronicling the story of the American circus. Visitors can find handbills, posters, photographs, props, costumes, circus wagons, and miniature circuses on display.
