The History Miami is a history museum in Miami, Florida. It is best known for being one of the biggest local history museums in the country.
Formerly known as the Historical Museum of Southern Florida, History Miami was originally designed to tell of the regional history of the Southern Florida and the Caribbean. It was founded in 1940 by a group of prominent locals including George Meerick, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, and Charlton Tebeau. It was opened in 1962 and then later moved to the facility of Miami Science Museum, and then in 1984 to its current location in downtown Miami. It was renamed in 2010.
History Miami features a wide range of displays that focus on local history. They also host regular city tours, educational programs, publications, and research.
