Lake June-in-Winter Scrub State Park is a unique state ecological preserve designed to protect the endangered natural sand-scrub community which is sometimes mentioned as Florida?s desert system.
Located in Sebring, Florida, the Lake June in Winter Scrub State Park is a treasure trove of unique species, some of which can only be found in this area of the state. Such species include the bobcat, gopher tortoise, deer, Florida mouse, Florida scrub lizard and the scrub jay. Other rare animals such as the bald eagle and ospreys often make an appearance at the beach front.
As a relatively new park there are few major amenities in the park but fishing, hiking, and wildlife viewing opportunities are abound and there are several picnic areas to choose from.
